There is no resistance. You’re imagining it. And when you imagine something, you make it real for you. Painfully real, blissfully real. You choose.
It’s time to start taking responsibility for what we want to do. If you want to write a novel, or start a business, or clean out the garage…do it. And if you’re not doing it, that’s not resistance. That’s simply you not doing it.
Resistance is a fancy word. It says, “Oh I’m trying so hard and I just can’t get past this invisible block.”
Resistance is a story.
There is no block. Here’s what’s really happening: you’re not doing it, and you feel like you “should” be. So we use the familiar story that society taught us: “I want to. I try. But there’s so much resistance.”
You’re not doing it. If you were doing it, if you were trying, you’d be too busy to tell this story of resistance.
Let’s take a moment and turn around the stories we have of resistance.
Are you not writing a novel? CONGRATULATIONS! That’s Wonderful!
Is your garage a mess? BRAVO! I’m guessing you’ve been doing much more fun things with your time.
Let’s do it: what are you telling yourself a story of resistance about that you can turn around and say, “Hey, I didn’t do it. I’m not doing it right now. And that is a-okay with me!”
